Ibas GmbH: Tracking computer criminals
Ibas is a specialist in professional data recovery, data erasure and computer forensics. With their longstanding experience, skill and flexibility, these experts nearly always manage to find a solution, even in apparently hopeless cases, be it data loss, logistically complex erase routines or tracking down facts and electronic evidence for IT crime. In the company's laboratories in Hamburg and Munich or in its Norwegian headquarters, data is even reconstructed from burnt and completely soaked data media. Based on this know-how, Ibas has also developed solutions for permanently erasing data from data media so that it cannot be recovered. The forensic investigations at Ibas Germany are headed up by former BKA (German Federal Criminal Police Office) Chief Inspector Bodo Meseke. The investigations are carried out across national borders in accordance with internationally recognised forensic standards and national regulations. When sequestering data, Meseke works in collaboration with police, public prosecutors, lawyers and public and private companies.
Objectives and challenges
The main aim of the PR was to create awareness of the new computer forensics division and establish Ibas as a professional and serious provider. A further aim was to inform companies and private individuals about the most frequent forms of IT crime and communicate to them the best ways for injured parties to defend themselves.
Measures and actions
Intensive media support through regular reporting
- Targeted one-on-one discussions
- Proactive placement of background material
Results
The objective was reached with a multi-stage information campaign focusing on a few target groups. Now, Ibas is well placed to establish itself in journalistic circles as the key information source. As well as relevant IT business publications, the business and daily press also showed a keen interest, including media such as Die Zeit, FAZ, Handelsblatt, Deutschlandradio, BR Netradio and Stern. The subject of computer forensics is now often closely linked with the name Ibas.
