Cleantech: Market with growth potential

In Germany, over the last few years, people’s awareness of ecological issues has risen sharply. One of the consequences of this is the formation of an ever expanding cleantech industry, which focuses on technologies that use renewable energies.

It is common knowledge that our reserves of fossil fuels like oil, coal and gas are running out and that burning them produces emissions that harm the climate. As a result, the demand for environmentally-friendly and sustainable sources of energy like wind and water are growing and they currently account for around 4.6% of primary energy and 10.2% of electricity consumed in Germany.

But their potential is far from exhausted. The German government is actively supporting the further development of alternative energy supplies through various subsidy programmes and by creating statutory framework conditions (EEG) that make it attractive for people or companies to make the switch.
