Bioenergy
Bioenergy includes biomass, i.e. wood, green waste, liquid manure and other materials of organic origin, and is used to produce electricity and heat and in the production of fuels. In 2006, the biomass industry turned over approx. €9.1 billion, which is around 40% of the total turnover recorded by all renewable energies. Various measures like the EEG and the market launch programme for renewable energies continue to promote the use of biomass.
